Spot on! Comments as above. There really is no excuse whatsoever. It’s just a piece of cardboard
Viz; Sorry Sir, your new Ghost that you’ve come to collect has a small scratch on the door, but if you’d like to pop back next week we’ll get a man in to polish it out…… yeah, right.
Brand new factory sealed… Ive just got off the phone naim who still have the ndx2 available and are going to investigate whats going on and get back to me
Well, if they had run out of the standard sub-package, they should have improvised and included an explanatory note. Would not have happened when Naim was independant.
I’m not sure how the model of ownership relates in any way to packaging errors. Things go wrong unfortunately and the real test of Naim here is how they put it right. Throwing one’s toys out of pram rarely achieves a great deal.
I agree with some of these sentiments, but it remais true that I don’t think that this would have happened when I was a Naim customer (early 1980s-mid 1990s).
I’ve always found it best to make sure I’ve gotten the whole of the story before i make any sort of remark on here!!
This is the second brand new sealed ndx2 I’ve purchased…
The first one went back due to scratches on the front middle panel…
The second ndx2 has the EXACT same scratch marks on the front panel as well as a chip in the paint… The poor packaging on the second ndx2 is the cherry on the cake!
Naim are aware of the problem and are looking into it now for me!!
Is that okay with you?
It is disappointing when you get the same issue on two different units, but as you say Naim have details of the issue from you and no doubt from the store you bought it from.
I have not conducted a Randomised Controled Study…it’s my opinion, based and extrapolated from my own experience. If you read carefully what I have written, you will understand that I have not claimed this to be ‘fact’, just my opinion.
I bought a MiniDSP and downloaded REW two years ago and never got past opening the box and installing the software. My pair of REL S/510 sound great. I played with settings for months and always came back to the same configuration; for classical, jazz, classic rock, everything. My dealer was over some time ago (and he has installed hundreds if not thousands of REL subs) and agreed the settings I have are the best from what he could tell.
I should probably sell my MiniDSP but it’s not worth enough to hassle with.
I will say that it already sounds pretty great as is with almost no adjustment, running it full-range with only a slight reduction in volume from the sub. However, it’s not perfect and I’m hoping that taking the time to measure everything will smooth out the few issues, especially as one can upload the REW findings to the sub and its internal equalizer will adjust accordingly. At least that’s the theory.
I can imagine the CEO will want to pull his weight and help out at the warehouse, but where it goes wrong is with him being French. He will not have been used to the English assembly line where packages travel in the opposite direction compared to most of the rest of Europe.
