What was the last CD you bought

Lots of rain this morning.
So, ideas for Sunday gardening were aborted.

Ended up in the record shop instead.
Result :+1:

Two April new releases : Elbow ; Maggie Rogers
Plus two from Hannah Peel’s back catalogue

A while back, I came across Hannah Peel “Mary Casio : Journey to Cassiopeia (My Own Pleasure)”, (2017)

Love track 2 : Sunrise Through the Dusty Nebula.
It’s one of my current favourites and gets played regularly in our house.

Just playing Elbow’s latest…
Happy Sunday listening to all
(After all, what else are rainy Sundays for)?

Warm Nights got a 2024 Remastered Hi Res Expanded (15 tracks) release along with another of his albums Beautiful Hearts - a strange renaming of the album ‘I had a New York Girlfriend’ again now 15 tracks.

Why the new art as well?

I have no idea but I know his, Grants and the Go Betweens albums (CDs) are nearly all out of print and becoming expensive. In Red Eye (probably the only decent store left in Sydney) the Go Betweens CDs are all over $60, they use to be under $20.

The 2 I bought are remastered.

Most are available over here on Flac download at pretty reasonable prices other some of the later period The Go-Betweens stuff like The Friends of Rachel Worth.

Who is Rachel Worth?

I have no idea but that cd was over $60, I haven’t looked on Amazon recently.

What store are the hi res available?

The Hi Res are on Qobuz for an astronomic amount or 7digital at a little less.

If you can live with the 16bit versions which sound very good then Bleep.com is a bargain.

Just bought it on Amazon for £0.26 it was £10.26 including postage as a used but good condition item.

I had a £10 voucher from completing a Government on line survey.

And…bought…

Can Live 1973-1977 (has a track from the soon-to-be-released Aston LP, goodie).

Plus some reading on the bus…

Nice, short, articles on the Airplane and Cale et al’s June 1974. Ooh, and a goodie with Irmin Schmidt.
I don’t often buy the music mags, but this looks OK, excepting Knopfler.

Any mention of a release of the complete concert? - long overdue.

Not that I can see, Andy. But… it’s coming up for the 50th (!) so fingers x’d. There’s a 50th celebration on June 1 2024 (it sez ere) at ‘The Social, London’, incl a ‘live performance by Emma Tricca and Darren Hayman’…

Aston - my old school - but I had left by then ('74)
Still I did see a lot of good shows there and in Brum :sunglasses:

Grabbed these today along with a couple of nice LPs.
Exile on Main Street, The Stones.
I am very interested to hear the Lowell George with Linda Ronstadt live in Maryland ‘74.
Also I just couldn’t resist this mint digitally remastered LZ 4 for £2!
It’s just crazy the current price of CDs.

Enjoying this new Emily Barker album myself. Worth ordering from Bandcamp as the digital download includes two additional songs exclusive to Bandcamp.
Great meaningful song writing.

Waiting for my CD to arrive as I was a bit slow off the marl ordering.

Our local bookstore also sells classic CDs, both new and second hand. Today, I found out they will discontinue selling new CDs and they are selling now off their stock. I could not let this opportunity pass, so hence this nice new harvest

Blue Note 85th anniversary series-all Japan re-issues mastered by Kevin Gray (from the current TP & BNC series). Nice sounding CDs. Empyrean Isles was the nicest surprise for improved SQ!
