Listening to Radio 3 last night, I heard a song I haven’t heard in years and indeed had forgotten about: Women Of The World - Ivor Cutler and Linda Hirst from the Privilege album. I remember hearing it as sung by Ivor (perhaps mistakenly - could have been live on Peel I guess), but it was a long time ago. Linda sings here. Just a great, simple and powerful song…
Ordered the CD.
Just ordered this today.
I didn’t even realise it existed until watching hifi reviews on the Tube, I think the channel is called HiFi Club. Lots of hi-end electronics and speakers playing music but recorded with very high quality equipment.
Can’t wait to spin these at home.
If you like Clapton, then these are very enjoyable. I have the two disc version - CD (yellow edge) & DVD (brown edge). Please let us know if the Blu-ray has any “extras”.
Got it playing at the moment. Don’t expect fireworks….it’s so laid back, it’s almost horizontal
Definately late night listening with a nightcap whiskey or two (with or without the “e” - as the mood takes you
)
I did not actually buy these three little gems. I was buying my usual dose of Jazz CD’s and I mentioned whilst chatting that I was fascinated by South African jazz. The record shop owner had these laying around, and gave me these three.
All three are a pretty easy enjoyable foot tapping listen.
Yes, I love Clapton. Only started listening to his material over the last few years.
Regarding this album, the track they were playing in the demo just blew me away. He is of course a master of the guitar
, it’s one of my favourite instruments and I love acoustic guitar too so I believe I will love the album.
Not sure about this , didn’t know it existed, charity shop find, 99p so worth a try.
Is it cashing in on the name? Producer is Chris Biondo, so there is some continuity. In places it sounds pure Eva, then gets what I describe as shouty, rather than a smooth slide to higher notes this feels like an increase in volume and harshness. Will I play it again, yes, it might be end of day tiredness, hearing aids. I will have to compare to her own releases.
Not
Eva Cassidy had a raft of material that was unreleased because she didn’t think it was good enough. After her death some of that material was released retrospectively. ( I knew someone from her small production/management company.) This may have been from that cache.
The Beatles Anthology Collection
This arrived yesterday. I’d had this on pre-order for ages from Burning Shed. Haven’t had chance to open it yet.
Nice. I’ve already got the first three collections, so I’ll just be grabbing Anthology 4.
