I have had a download of Lucinda Williams, The Ghost of Highway 20 for a couple of years and have always thought it a great album. This week I picked up the double CD version and listened to it as two single CDs. Wowed again, some of the songs on this album are as good as anybody’s songs, any time, and I’m talking Dylan here, I’m talking Schubert. I was a late comer to Lucinda Williams, in fact, this album was the first time I heard her music but now this album would be in the last remaining bunch of my collection. Louisiana Story melts me every time, the duel guitars of Bill Frisell and Greg Leisz set such wonderful texture.

Just arrived, the Mahler symphonies and song cycles, conducted by Haitink with the Royal Concertgebouw. Highly regarded from the 60s and 70s probably responsible for fuelling Mahler’s popularity. There is also a bonus Bluray high res version included. I might be busy now for a while…
Always wanted a copy of this but vinyl copies are silly prices but now I have a CDP on my Uniti I’m able to enjoy it

After playing this last week via my excellent original vinyl boxset, i decided to acquire the CD format too.
Pre-owned bargain for £3.70 [which includes postage]
Fantastic versions of Haydn’s superb late symphonies conducted by Sir Thomas Beecham,
plus remarkably good 1950s recordings too, nothing not to like : )
