Second set has some great covers - On Broadway sounds interesting - nice choice.

You should’ve heard the full band play that at Pizza Express Holborn in August- it was a stormer, Andy.

The gig was recorded, so… :crossed_fingers:t4:

In any meantime, there’s always Mercury In Retrograde for a live Vooduu Experience

Thought you might :+1:t5:

I was thinking of giving Ese a copy of X Dreams…if she doesn’t already have it.

Now that would be interesting to hear her reaction. The other Aura label album from 1979 The Perfect Release would also be worth including.

The Ukrainian community put on a cultural show yesterday. Top of the bill was the band Skai. Apparently well known and flown in. Did not understand a word said or sung but the sizeable crowd seemed to. An entertaining mix of pop and rock. And not too loud!

Last Tuesday I got to see Nickel Creek in concert at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. One of the finest venues in the world for live music. And such a gifted group of musicians! Chris Thile, in particular, is a generational talent on mandolin. It is nice to see a band that started out as young teens grow up into such a mature group.

Last night. Ninety nine percent of his monologue and talking was in commendable French which pleased most of the sell out crowd. Even though it was French french.
Highlight was sledgehammer just before the intermission. The crowd went nuts. After the break it got a little loose and louder. Soulsbury hill, big time and a couple of others just didn’t work so well. Didn’t seem to matter to the audience.

Absolutely beautiful concert in an amazing Rococo Chapelle.
Apologies for the phone shadow .

Mathew Halsall at Nottingham Metronome. Particularly enjoyed the second set of older stuff which included a good amount of excellent harp. Very moody lighting throughout. Great small venue too with really good sound.

Ellie Gowers at a small venue on the norfolk coast… she was excellent and best of all no pyjamas conversations going on while she performed.

The fabulous Ese and The Vooduu People last Friday nite at the Rose & Crown.
She is just a marvel in how she gets an initially lacklustre crowd motivated and involved…

Shout out to Sam on a minimal kit - such power welded with delicacy. I wish I had a tenth of his talent back when I played.

I’m still singing her songs two days later, and found myself at work today singing her massive cover of You Can Run But You Can’t Hide.

Vooduu Is Real. And Ese’s the Queen…

Bonnie Raitt here in Vancouver. Great concert. Particularly enjoyed the playing of Duke Levine, her new guitarist. (No photos of course. Not only were they disallowed, but I can’t stand trying to watch a concert through a sea of phones, so I won’t subject others to that either.)

The Christians at local venue The Atkinson in Southport last Friday . Excellent performance. Only Garry Christian remains from the original line up but a special mention for lead guitarist/backing vocalist Joey Ankrah… An incredible voice.

Buqqer, every time I’m in South London for “cat-sitting duty”, Ese is not playing! I’ll have to get her & Daughter#2 to synchronise their diaries
