What was the last concert / gig you attended?

Suburbia at Cantiere 40/3 Arese
A new rock band from Italy. They are absolutely stunning. Utterly pleased to have been yesterday evening in this small club near Milan and see them. Their debut album is due to release in April 2024. I can’t wait.

Hilary concert is always worth attending!

that is terrible. I hope they can find a wealthy private donors to make up the loss.

Yesterday I went with @Endon and our wives to see ‘ABBA Voyage’ at the purpose built ABBA stadium in East London. Photo is of the stadium before the show - no photos of the show itself for obvious reasons. I was a bit cynical about seeing a show with ‘Abbatars’ but I was so wrong - the show is quite, quite extraordinary. ‘State of the art’ doesn’t come anywhere near what you see - I haven’t seen lighting and staging like this before. What I hadn’t expected was how emotional the show made me and everyone around me was the same. I’m sure that this will be done with other bands but I can’t imagine that being with a bunch of fat, balding old blokes nodding at avatars of the Rolling Stones would be anything like this experience.
I can’t recommend this enough. We are already making plans to go back

And I flew over from Dublin last December to see it - bucket list stuff IMV.

I might get a seat next time as it was a bit cramped in the mosh pit  and I really do like my comfort these days!

We were seated and had great views - I don’t think that there are any bad seats. ‘Mosh pit’ did look a bit rammed - we saw one woman being escorted out in ‘an advanced state of refreshment’

I will be in London in April and am tempted to go after reading this but they are asking £140 per seat. Is it worth it?

Average ticket price is £85 and we managed to find ours for £60 so definitely worth looking around. All the seats are good so no problem sitting at back. But in the end I would pay whatever as it is so good!

You can definitely get cheaper tickets than that and imho some of the seats further back give you a better view of the whole spectacle and boy is it a spectacle. The hype saying “it’s hard to explain it, just come along and see for yourself” seemed bs- but it’s absolutely true. I don’t think I’ve ever been so overwhelmed by such a visual and audio experience. Cannot recommend it enough - even if abba isn’t your fave band ever!!

Seth Lakeman at Storyhouse, Chester. Kitty Jay 20th Anniversary Tour - the first half of the show was the Kitty Jay album in full then after the interval tracks from his other albums. He has fantastic musicians in his band and it was great that everyone in the house were on their feet clapping and dancing for the last few songs.

Change of scene last night with Editors at Leeds O2 Academy. Always full of energy it was a great night. The usual fan favourites and a few I don’t remember hearing them play before, plus an interesting cover of Adamski’s “Killer” as well

With the greatest respect, that throwaway comment was unworthy. Abbado was a fantastic conductor and a great orchestral trainer, and we were lucky to see him in London as often as we did when he was the LSO’s principal conductor. He even persuaded his chum Carlos Kleiber to conduct the orchestra twice, in Milan and London - I was lucky enough to attend the London concert.

Like @markah I saw Editors at O2 Leeds last night.

A different view from the floor where, IMO, the audience didn’t quite get into the show with the enthusiasm I have seen at other shows by the band. The set list was perfect including the full band version of ‘Nothing’ so there was no excuse. It was noticeable that Blanck Mass was not on stage - he was missed. For me, the songs lacked the ‘industrial’ wall of sound that their recent shows and EBM album benefitted from. I hope his absence was temporary.

At the risk of sounding naive - the people at the gig were so much friendlier than I am used to. This was the first show Snow Dog and I have been to since our move from ‘The South’ a month ago. We got into music related chats in a restaurant, a bar and after the show, all with different groups of people. This friendliness was one of the reasons we moved so it is not a surprise, but really made the evening for us.

@By-Tor a better write up than mine, you sum it up well. Perhaps more to be expected in the balcony seats the crowd didn’t get into it until half-way through either, but anyway I loved it all. I would have been at the Liverpool gig tonight but I left it to late to get tickets waiting on my work dates and then they sold out - not even anything on Twickets!

One to look forward to - two tickets booked for LSO with Antonio Pappano on 4 May. Programme is Barber’s Adagio, Ravel’s lovely Piano Concerto (with Bertrand Chamayou as soloist) and Rachmaninoff’s Second Symphony. I just need to find a chum to take the second ticket.

Are you allowed to stand up and jig around a bit?

Absolutely! There is a ‘dance floor’ (AKA mosh pit) at the front but lots of people in the seated areas were up and dancing
