What Was The Last Vinyl You Bought?

Is that the Intervention reissue?

I bought a copy over the Summer, but still waiting for it to come in…

Can someone recommend me which version worths buying of Peter Green’s classics “Little Dreamer” and “In The Skies”?

Thanks

M.

Actually it does puzzle me why forums like this seem to be predominantly Male, surely Woman have ears too?

Yes, but IME, they have better things to waste their time on.

Like the Crosby hair gag… I’ll use that - Covid hair, moi?

Yeah I know. I use Piccadilly & Diverse for my online purchases. In Piccadilly’s case they wait until I have £75 worth of records and then send them free of postage. Diverse do charge me postage but also wait until I have a bundle then send them to me. Both arrived together this time!!!
The missus said “Not more records”. Thats the edited cleaned up version!!

Hi Richard, Yes it is. I got it from Diverse Vinyl. It has recently been repressed so should definitely be available now. I would chase up your order.

Prem.

Maybe it’s a bit early in the day for me, you’ve lost me there Stevie!
He’s a funny guy though, I thought he was Michael Heseltine with that Barnet!

I feel for you guys who have to suffer such oppression

Yes but they probably just listen to the music and not get obsessed with cables, switches, military precision positioning of components and the sonic benefits of different colours of blue tack :joy:

Welcome Home by 'Til Tuesday on original vinyl which I bought back in the 80s. It features the brilliant Aimee Mann on vocals and she’s sounding “mighty sweet” to paraphrase SK of this forum. The track “Have Mercy” sends shivers down my spine.

That’s exactly the conclusion I reached when I was working as an audio salesman a number of years ago - in general, men were more interested in the technical aspects of the equipment (how they were built and their specs) while the majority of women were only interested in how the proposed system played music.

I was often more successful with the latter approach. One day, an older lady came in, and we talked about classical music for 25 minutes or so. Then she said, “now sir, I took a lot of your time, can you tell me what system I should buy for my cottage? Someone like you who loves beautiful music can only suggest the right system. Budget is $4,000 to $5,000”. She left 15 minutes later with the system.

$4,500 was pretty good money by then (ca 1984, exactly $11,415.43 in today’s money) and the store owner was bewildered when I told him how the sale was made.

A visit to the “what are you listening to thread” also reassuringly shows the passion of the music lovers of our community .

Probably not helped by the sexist advertising back in the day, this is one of the tamer ones, some were pretty outrageous

Actually last word, but this is absolutely true. Way back in the day my dealer was demonstrating an electronic remote volume control when such things were the latest Wizzo gadget.
Unimpressed and totally seriously, without any humorous intent or tongue in cheekedness, I found myself saying that “I preffered the feel of a good knob”
