Another superb and reliable next day service from Juno & Royal Mail
Madeleine Peyroux - Careless Love (Craft/Rounder)
Not someone I’ve listened to before, this has been getting some love on the WYLT thread so streamed it, loved it and bagged it!
It’s a superb package 3LP, Trifold Sleeve, Picture inserts…
Edit: lovely sound but some slight non fill on side one, nothing major but a slight dissapointment nonetheless, going to try a second copy. MPO pressing
Edit 2, second copy is better. In any case I prefer the Live recording on the other two discs
Forgive me for poking my nose in. That’s appalling service from MOFI, they’ve sold you faulty goods and should be responsible for putting it right, refund or replacement, the cost of shipping a replacement is their problem.
Not sure how consumer rights work in your country, but here in UK you can claim back the cost of faulty goods from your credit card provider (assuming you paid that way), might be worth checking out that avenue if MOFI dont give you satisfaction, it wont get you a replacement but will get your money back and you could buy another
At the time these two albums were made (1961) Abbey Lincoln and Max Roach were an item (if not yet married). they each appear on this pair of LPs on the short-lived Candid label, along with Eric Dolphy, Coleman Hawkins, Olatunji, Mal Waldron, Julian Priester, Booker Little and others.
Both albums are noted for their sound quality, as well as for being jazz milestones, so I’m looking forward to settling down and giving these two Pure Pleasure reissues a good listen.
So sorry to hear this @WolF. I can only imagine your frustration. Your experience is enough to scratch the ‘OneStep’ itch for me. I’m off to HMV for a standard Sony/CBS reissue of Tapestry instead…
I had a not dissimilar experience with my Marvin Gaye - What’s Going On One Step one record was marked though that didn’t effect play but the printing imperfections on the inner sleeves where unacceptable on a £125 pound record. Like you I was told that I’d have to return the items at my expense and also pay for the replacements to be posted back alternatively they said they could post them with my next order.
They where also really unhelpful and actually quite offish about the whole thing I was actually made to feel as if I was being overly picky.
Mofi also suggested that they can add the replacement LP1 with another record purchase thru Music Direct. I will not be buying directly from MoFi again thats for sure. Music Direct has exactly the same overseas terms and conditions on returns because they are one of the same company.
@Bobthebuilder@WolF
Sorry to hear of you guys experience. So much for the claimed exceptional quality control blah blah blah, eh? A snobbish attitude is par for the course with these labels too ime.
But, as I suggested before, no need to waste time trying to argue, just dispute the charge through your credit card. I find Amex particularly good in this regard and always use them wherever possible especially anything bought online and/or internationally.
I did groan a little when I saw the first few titles in the series, “oh, not those again!” But some exciting titles now going forward including Mingus, Mingus, Mingus & Black Saint & The Sinner Lady.
I think AS have also done Gil Evan’s Out Of The Cool & Ray Charles Genius + Soul = Jazz both fantastic records and highly recommended, although I passed on them as I already have the Alto Analogue of the former and an earlier Analogue Productions of the latter.
While there seems to be an increasing amount of chaff on the vinyl market, thank god for labels like Tone Poet, Acoustic Sounds, Craft and many of the other specialists
Thanks!
No it’s one I dont have on vinyl at all, hence my anticipation of the AS.
Similarly one of my all time favourite Jazz albums Oliver Nelson - Blues & The Abstract Truth, (which I forgot to mention) up until the recent superb AS I only had on a still decent sounding mid nineties GRP/Impulse CD (Along with Mingus Mingus, Black Saint and some others)
