What Was The Last Vinyl You Bought?

Back at work after days off and popped into Rough Trade in Denmark St to pickup some goodies:

The Delines - The Set Up
Doctor Alimantado - Best Dressed Chicken In Town
The Fall - Fall Heads Roll double set

Dr A is going back for a swap as one track has 2 scratches through the whole damn tune. Still, RT looked to have several copies so exchange should be easy.

The Fall is great ( playing it on 'phones right now)… it’s a record of the 2005 Fall, including bonus tracks, b sides: Mark seemed very pleased with it all:

You may need to magnify his comment, lol…

Me too! Ace album.

Oh, and a book:

Budgie - The Absence - Memoirs of a Banshee Drummer

Paul Weller - Stanley Rd, Go Discs (1995)

7 inch box set the full LP on six 45rpm singles. I’ve been after a reasonably priced copy of this for 15 years or more I actually bought one about five years ago but it was missing a single so I returned it.

I don’t have an original full sized Stanley Rd to compare it to but it betters the 2017 reissue I do have by a fair bit though to be fair that’s a low bar.

That’s a nice 4 pack of albums.

That’s interesting Stevie about The Fall. I have a selection of their earlier albums and I haven’t heard this one. I am going to have to check it out. Thanks for the heads up. :+1:

I was the same Martin - I didn’t know about this album at all and only noticed it because they had it up on the wall. Well worth checking out.

Frank Sinatra - Songs For Swinging Lovers, Capitol/Tone Poet (2026)

I’d actually say in my opinion that Swinging Lovers actually sounds ever so slightly better than In The Wee Small Hours.

Marvin Gaye - After the Dance, Motown/Vinylphyle (2026)

This so called ‘Audiophile’ reissue isn’t up to some of the better Jazz reissues of recent years it sounds better than my 2009 reissue and the cover is also beautiful.

Paul Weller - Supplement : 66, Polydor (2024)

A 4 track ep from the 66 LP sessions cut at 45rpm it sounds first rate the songs are very good too. I especially like So Quietly written and performed with English singer song writer Kathryn Williams.

I listened to all six singles from the Stanley Road box set with a bit of volume and they all sounded very, very good better than any Weller vinyl pre 22 Dreams.

Good ol’ river. Ordered last night and they just delivered it. I will save it for later on in the weekend and let’s hope it’s a good pressing.

Today I bought a new solo album by the bassist of RHCP, Flea, at a local store. It’s jazz-funk fusion. After the first listen, I’m more than satisfied, and I especially liked the song “Wichita Lineman.”

I love the cover, apparently his mother in law taken somewhere in the 60’s.
Enjoy it!
