Which 0% beer are you drinking and why might someone else enjoy it?

This one is cool. I didn’t dare to dream they would make a 0% Guinness but they did! And it’s tasty!

On the tour the always did this ranty bit about how alcohol free “beer” doesn’t exist. It should be called a malt drink according to them (from memory).

I wonder what they say now that they have one themselves which they do call beer.

Gosh, this is back!

I still think that Adnams Ghost Ship 0.5% is the best thing readily available in the UK and I have tried all the easily available brands.

I was very surprised at Guinness Zero. Sure, it’s not as smooth as the real stuff, but it ain’t half bad. I drink it on a Thursday lunchtime with the Grumpy Old Men I used to work with!

And streets ahead of the low alcohol sh!te we were getting a decade go.

Based on the recommendations for Guinness zero I thought I’d give it a try. Bought a pack of four, stuck a couple in the back of the fridge, and never got around to trying them. Tonight an article from Forbes cropped up in my Google feed singing it’s praises so I hightailed it to the fridge and cracked one open.
Not quite as good as the real thing but very close. Very palatable.

By far the best zero (0.5%) I’ve tasted. From memory I believe the German bobsleigh team drank the Erdinger as a recovery drink at the Winter Olympics - it claims to be isotonic on the label which is good enough for me. They both have plenty of flavour.

wow I need to try that.

I recently tried Erdinger and it’s very good. Doesn’t taste like an low alcohol drink.

Set you up nicely for the Elm Hill Luge

It’s very good.

I’ve tried Heineken 00 which is acceptable, but with a slight chemical aftertaste.
Living in Wellington NZ we are spoilt for choice with craft beers. The “Tiny” hazy IPA (<0.5) is full bodied and tastes great. I did not feel I was missing out on anything, perhaps because it is so richly flavoured.

Man, this excellent variety of non-alcohol beers seems just amazing to me. In Canada, there are very few selections. In fact, I don’t think I’ve even ever seen the non alcohol Guinness anywhere.
It’s something to do with our government importing being very hard to deal with, I believe.

My problem with ingesting alcohol is a neurological issue. The nerves my lower legs get numb and alcohol is a major contributor. In fact the specialist said it was the only contributor. It’s weird, my foot will feel numb, but if you prick it anywhere with a pin it will hurt in a completely normal way.
Probably not a bad thing as I initially figured it was circulation. You may have come across this in your practice. I can’t be the only one …

I have a peripheral neuropathy with numb hand and feet and I know what you mean. My condition is autoimmune and aggravated by fatigue, fortunately not alcohol, but I am resolving to save the good stuff for high days and holidays and not day to day. A very frustrating condition to have isn’t it! Sorry for thread drift.

Oh, I’m sorry to hear that IDAK. Now, I wish I was the only one with that issue, as it is frustrating.

The thread drift is minimal tho, as this side topic began as a sound reason for drinking non-alcoholic beer. I felt I needed to give the ever-healthy, party boys, who were incredulous that anyone would willingly drink such a thing, some insight into being an old git …

I hear that Chateau Latour is working on a non-alcoholic Grand Cru. Sorry, didn’t mean to alarm you. I really am joking, I didn’t hear that.

The joke Latour sounds like sugar free maple syrup.

Sawmill Bare Beer IPA. This Auckland <0.5% is quite tasty.

Found this in our local Booths supermarket. Very good, full of flavour and with none of that cheap alcohol free beer aftertaste. Best alcohol free beer of this style I have found. Not sure how easy it is to find elsewhere?

Here in the States we have 0% beers (actually probably 0.5% or so) by Athletic Brewing and they are very good. Their IPAs are the best but they do other styles too.
