I visited 3 years ago, at the start of the annual Festival (Feis Ile - Google it). Thoroughly enjoyable, and I will go again one year!)

My local merchant has put a bottle of this to one side for me. It has just been awarded the accolade of Best Highlands Single Cask Single Malt at last month’s World Whisky Awards.

I have absolutely no idea what this will be like, but Mr Waitrose thinks it’s too good to waste. I’m not sure I’ve heard of double cask before, so it will be interesting to try it.

Not one I’ve tried but looks like a bargain price for a 14 yr old Aberlour. I might even seek it out at Waitrose at that price!

Even the original price is good, as most places seem to sell it for nearly £60. For £33 it’s a steal. I got it in the Havant branch.
Picked up two bottles.
Smokehead and Johnnie Walker Green Label which is a new one for me.
Nice but I still prefer the Blue Label.

The typical approach is initially to mature the whisky in fresh oak casks. Then transfer to mature in previously used sherry casks to pick up some hints of sherry etc.
A favourite of mine is Balvenie Doublewood 12 year old.
I think I’ll check out the Aberlour as it sounds interesting.

My default whisky of choice. Just the right amount of complexity, smoothness and flavour. Also featuring my favourite whisky glass bought by my lovely wife. Its the same one James Bond/Daniel Craig uses in Casino Royale - her fantasy, not mine!

I finished my 12 year old DC the other week ( it was my go to dram also) and have replaced with a 15 year old (JW Blue Label aside the only bottle that I’ve paid over £100 for) which is just lovely. This is my latest 12 year old Mac. Very nice also but the Double Casts are my favourite
