I think I’m close to the 100 hour mark. I did put it on the streamer for a couple days to speed things up. Compared it to the Signature TA and the Morgana RCA-DIN’s that I already had.
You only need the Naim amp plug when using NACA5.
Naim SA8 best for any cable into a Naim amp.
Shortproof connections and shared stress tension on the sockets.
You don’t actually need the Naim plugs with A5; it’s simply considered best. I have Naim plugs at the amp end of my Kudos cables. The dealer who made them up said that it would give the optimal connection, so I went with the suggestion, which only added a few £s.
I never liked the way the SA8 forces you to make a sharp bend immediately below the housing or force the cable over the edge of a Fraim glass shelf. Either way, the cable doesn’t hang straight down from the connector, unless you push the amp all the way to the back of the shelf. With an amp more or less level with the front of the glass and the glass centred on the bearings, there is a 25mm ledge immediately below where the cable exits the housing. I imagine this design predates Fraim and I think it is probably better suited to other supports or Fraim Lite - most of the pictures I have seen with Naim on Hutter have the amps pushed much further back than on Fraim, allowing the cable to hang straight and free.
Hi
I do get what you mean it’s either a tight bend or have an overhang.
I use Kudos KS-1 and no such problem.
A-5 isn’t the most easy to work with.
I was told the Naim plugs came into being to deal with the stiffness of NACA5 cable.
The other problem with the plugs is the cables have to be “ left/right handed” at the NAP250 end.
Being handed is really useful, especially if the cables aren’t otherwise marked, as is the case with A5. It removes the need to add red and black heat shrink.
Provided you know which hand is which.
NACA5 is (sort of) marked as there a ridge running along one edge.
Curious as to what areas of these you feel are much much better then the Morganas?
It’s hard to describe as the AVO cable just gives more of everything without any of the “hifi” stuff like deeper bass, better highs, deeper soundstage etc sticking out.
Everything just sounds coherent and right. There is definitely more speed and the timing is spot on so PRaT is much better.
It let’s more information through without being thin or bright. Bass is deeper without sounding out of place or overblown.
It adds depth and space without sounding separated or out of place.
The biggest thing is the emotional involvement. It just sucks you in and gives you goosebumps
Happy to pick up my pre-amp today that I had sent W.H about 6 weeks ago. Spectre cable up and running. From the off they were very good indeed.
Little comfort for those of us trying to get our money back from our credit card providers.
That’s not mcleanmuir’s fault…
We all sympathise with your problem, but your comment is rather unnecessary.
I haven’t seen any identity or contact details for the insolvency practitioner that you went via (if that happened). I wonder if that might be good information to share?
That’s true as if they’re in the hands of a receiver any return or refund maybe considered a preferential payment and (here anyway) you may end up being liable for the value.
Not sure I understand, Pete…" you may end up being liable for the value"?
