Pls correct if Im wrong. I believe Mark Slade is no longer involved with WH.
My dealings were with a fella called Josh. At first he seemed to be ok. When the cables did eventually rock up things changed for the worst, not saying he was rude for the most part, just full of crap. Zero responsibility for their build error, zero apologies, no offer to remedy. New Zealand is a long way from the UK….at the end of it, while I received the full refund i was in the hole for about $400 NZD import customs, return postage.
At the end of the day I blame myself for my predicament. I had read a lot of unfavourable comments about postage, build times and dear i say the never ending build quality issues. It amazes me the patience some members in this forum have had with them.
Anyway I SHOULD HAVE HEED THE WARNING my bad. Think sometimes one just needs to admit to one self a mistake has been made and just need to suck the “sausage” no pun intended (could be a down under saying) So i move forward ending up back where I started Naim supplied cables.
Mental note just enjoy the music Steve
As there was no net import, can you reclaim the taxes?
Did you mention to them and provide proof of any updates you’d received from Witch Hat of delays in production.
I think they may take these delays and promises into consideration.
I would certainly keep on trying. I have lots of emails explaining what’s going on and shared them with my cc company.
Yes, I think you can, but that would need confirmation from the seller eg repair/return which wasn’t offered nor did I ask. By this time I had major trust issues with Josh. Sooo much BS. I still have the emails.
Put it this way, it’s wasn’t worth the effort as the OEM xlr to cannon are better period.
$400 what will that get you in NZ these days, tank of fuel ice creams for the kids maybe a family take away.
I don’t even think my wife picked it up thank God
I have the RCA OYAIDE ACROSS750 RR V2 one and I’m really happy with the performance and I want to replace my actual speaker cable (tellurium black ll speaker cable ) with Oyaide Across 3000 but can’t find the inductance.
unfortunately there is not too many reviews about Japanese audio high-quality cables in hifi community and some of those companies don’t provide the complete specs.
So earlier in the thread I told my sad story about my Witch Hat experience. In short I did not receive the Spectre leads nor something else. To rub salt into the wound because I paid by Bank Transfer, the was no hope of refund. I had a few glasses of red and contemplated on how silly I had been not using credit card. Oh well, lesson learned.
I knew that I still wanted to upgrade my speaker cable, and this week I have taken delivery of Terrulium Q Ultra Silver leads. Wow, maybe losing out on the Spectre was a blessing as the TQs are spectacularly good to my ears, and if events had been different I would not have ended up with this truly wonderful product.
As they say “Every cloud has a Silver lining”, or in my case at least it was Ultra Silver.
Onwards and upwards👍
I paid for my (returned) cables using PayPal/Amex. All good until last week as Amex had refunded the cost, but then received a letter saying the merchant had contested the refund as they hadn’t received the return.
This is having sent Royal Mail insured and received confirmation of delivery with a signature and photo at WitchHats end.
Frankly I was giving them the benefit of the doubt up until now, but claiming they didn’t receive the return is outright fraudulent behaviour. So sorry for everyone else caught up in their mess.
At least you have the proof.
I’m more inclined to believe this is further evidence of their utter lack of organisation than deliberate fraud. I don’t think they’ve shown sufficient ability to pull that off.
After several, banging my head against the wall, telephone calls. My bank, has finally credited me, my refund for the Witch Hat 222 Morgana cables. Obviously, these never saw the light of day, but will pass to the annals of HiFi folklore.
Well….i am still enjoying Kudos KS1………its relatively affordable, widely available from Kudos dealers. My upgrade from NAC A5 was a very frustrating experience. Naim Superlumina tried a few times….best of luck.
Yes, we are both singing from the same page in the hymn book……Kudos KS1 here……courtesy of @HungryHalibut
I’ve had a bit of to-ing and fro-ing with Nationwide. All I could provide as evidence was my proof of purchase email, and a screen shot of the WH website and the message that they had ceased trading. Nationwide wanted to see evidence of my efforts to contact the administrator - I had to tell them a few times that it was a bit tricky to contact someone when you didn’t know who they were. I then sent a few screen shots from this thread, showing that other banks had coughed up, accusing them of being deliberately obstructive and pointing out they were jointly liable under S75. ‘I’ve been a loyal customer for 35 years and am very disappointed’ etc. Nothing.
I’d been planning to call them today and have another good moan. I’ve just checked my account and lo and behold, the refund has arrived. My credit card is now showing a positive balance, so spending it will be like getting free stuff. Hurrah.
The administrators are Adam Jordan and Nick Rimes of “Rimes & Co”
I have communicated with them and they were helpful and quick to reply.
Glad to see you have had a positive outcome.
Now the dilemma, what to spend that extra money on……?
Thanks for posting that information. As I am (1) a very curious person and (2) an accountant so have professional curiosity too despite (3) not having ordered anything from Witch Hat ever I am looking forward to seeing the statement of affairs being filed at Companies House to learn a bit more about the demise of the business!
That will indeed make fascinating reading!
