I would be surprised if the UK was the only jurisdiction where such protection exists. After some searching I found promising equivalents in both EU and AUS legislation, here’s the post on the EU information I found
And here on the AUS
I’ll repeat, I am not a lawyer, but thought it worth a look if people not in the UK were struggling with recovering their money.
Back on this topic (and just for @Mike_S ), I received a confirmation from Westpac NZ today that they’ve refunded me in full for the purchase of the Spectre cable. If you want more detail, maybe @Richard.Dane can pass on my contact details and I’ll let you know the process.
That’s great news @JonoB. I didn’t have any orders caught in this - I had a delivery a week or two in advance for some other cables, but thanks for the heads up.
I placed my order on the first day, using my credit card via my PayPal account (it was about midnight here in NZ, so around midday UK time, 10pm your time).
PayPal declined the refund, so I went to Westpac and asked them. After providing them with a bunch of information, they placed a chargeback on the payment. The merchant’s bank (I’m guessing this is PayPal) had 45 (business) days to challenge the chargeback, and have confirmed today that it wasn’t challenged and have refunded me in full.
Yeah, it’s been a bit of a drama. I would much rather have the spectre in my system at the moment, and that we were all able to hear the great things that WHS were providing in terms of tweaks, but I’m very happy that I’m not out of pocket.
