C de B version is superb
I know you tell me she is a woman embued with the Christmas spirit but if I was the cameraman I would keep an eye on the neck of that quitar.
She has an unhappy air and looks somewhat combative

Rockabilly Christmas various artists including The Honeydippers and Swing Cats. As a student in the 80s I worked in a Newcastle motor tax office, I was introduced to rockabilly at a famous pub, The Bridge. The girls were big on rockabilly clothes and make-up. First retro alternative culture I came to know. Some were semi-professional singers and musicians subsidised by their day jobs.
Listening to Ms Krall now , very good. Ideal for my system and my Harbeth P3 ESR speakers
Pretty sure I’ve posted this before, but these three albums are just great:
Don’t think the box set is available any more, but all three albums (An Oscar Peterson Christmas (1995), A Dave Brubeck Christmas (1996) and Christmas with the George Shearing Quintet (1998)) can just about be had separately, though you might need to hunt around.
With Telarc SQ thrown in, if you can find them, these don’t really have a down side.

I’m glad you enjoy it, I think it’s one of the finest xmas albums around, classy and timeless. The orchestra is very well recorded and wind instruments sound sweet and very detailed.
This has been a firm favorite in our house for a very long time.
Wishing everyone on the forum A Very Happy Christmas.
When we’re home for Christmas, we always play the first section of that set on Christmas morning. It’s just captures the spirit of the day so effectively.
Many years ago, I was at my parents on Christmas morning and the usual flurry and fluster was going on in in the kitchen. I was not directly involved, so switched on the tele and happened to catch the start of a broadcast of the oratorio from a beautifully decorated church somewhere in Germany. Two hours of bliss followed — a memorable Christmas Day.

I do have this on a ‘best of’ vinyl album, but thought I’d just play the track from Qobuz. It seems I’ve been mis-hearing it for all these years. I always thought Kirstie MacColl sang:
“You scumbag, you maggot, you cheap, lousy faggot”
but now I’m hearing:
“You scumbag, you maggot, you’re cheap and you’re haggered”.
That’s the benefit of 24bit/48kHz for you! ![]()
If you recommended this on the forum, oh, about 10 or more years ago, I bought a copy as a result and was just listening to some tracks from it today. The version of O Little Town of Bethlehem set to House of the Rising Sun is glorious.
The Ultra-Lounge Christmas Cocktails series (all three volumes!) make for similarly entertaining listening.
