Is this a suitable replacement?
See here.
Amazing how XPS power supplies eat their protection.
I think its the inrush current on switch on

It’s important that you replace the XPS2/DR fuse with an exact like for like replacement. The Littelfuse is the best one here and least likely to blow at start up (although still a possibility on some units). It’s unfortunate that it’s right on the tolerance edge for the 2.5A T fuse, however the next value up is not adequate to fully protect the unit so cannot safely be used.
They are the right rating but I had the same make and unfortunately they are prone to blow after a short time, if you do not turn off your XPS you may get away with them for a short while, best get the recommended fuse and save the heartache of keep clearing the fuse holder of glass, Richard stated the best make option.
Thanks Richard.
It’s easy to order the correct make and rating from a reputable dealer online. I’d order a few of them as back up just to be on the safe side.
Those fuses with the coloured bands in that thread are the original factory ones that are fitted in a new XPS DR. So are correct. The clear glass ones are replacement spares from dealerships.
Curiously my Olive XPS has never blown a fuse, and gets switched on/off regularly.
Is it just the “black” XPSs?
One thing of note in my experience with the XPS DR - ever since i installed a PowerLine, it’s definitely more robust in being switched on & off, blowing fuses less frequently, over the long run.
I dealt with this not so long ago, for U.S.spec but the info discovered in my thread might be useful. I ended up getting the official, correct replacement fuses. No issues ever since.
