I gave this a spin the other day after seeing it here. Gosh, ripper versions of July Morning and Gypsy!

This was a go to album in my early teens along with Made in Japan! By the way it’s July Morning…:+1:

Can’t find this available on CD anywhere at the moment…

There’s some on Discogs, my version is a Qobuz download. I did have it on vinyl, but that was many years ago and it was worn out!

Who’d have thought 10 years ago that old Nick would enjoy such a stellar solo career?

Playing Aswad at the BBC reminded me of this superb album recorded live at Nottinghill Carnival

Which inevitably reminded me of this live album which is second only to Kick Out The Jams in the interesting live album stakes I think

I love ‘Rockers Medley’ on the Aswad album - Cerys plays it on her show every year at carnival time!

Big Ron Kavana fan. Here he is Live in California with The Resident Aliens. One for Pogues fans, possibly.

If you like Tom Petty this live anthology is a must IMO.

This release is more of a live compilation than anything with tracks from three UK gigs over 20 years and a couple recorded at the BBC’s Maida Vale. I love it though because it is very faithful to the great man the first time I saw him at Hammersmith in the 80’s.

Try this instead. Used to get heavy play back in the day. Went to see him and he played an acoustic version of Secrets in the Street, I booed.

A less predictable recommendation for all you Feat fans.

Amongst other delights this has a stonking version of Rock n Roll Doctor and a blistering close out to Feats Don’t Fail Me Now.

Nils Lofgren certainly gets around, being in Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, and he has been an occasional member of Neil Young’s Crazy Horse. He also fronted his own band Grin.

Although not my favourite live album (that’s " One more from the road"), this certainly comes a very close second. It’s defo the most interesting live album i have though. I first saw Frank live at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1979 and it was then that i realised just how good a guitarist he actually was. I didn’t buy this album until the 1990’s though for some reason. When i do play it though, i will just sit and listen to both albums. It’s very well recorded and always sounds really good on my system.

That sounds interesting! I’ve never quite “got” Frank Zappa, and he’s one of those artists I feel I should?
