Your Watch & Naim

Chinese are doing a great job with their Homage gear.

I’ve got a pair of Homage 322 MM boards. Surface mount so you can’t confuse them with the originals. Nobody in the UK is making them.

Update: After much sweat I managed to get someone to manufacture a new domed crystal for the Stingray. That’s better. Not bad for a 56 year iconic watch.
Happy days!:smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

That looks great Tony!

It’s getting quite difficult to source older crystals. I need one for a '70s Camy Sevenseas as the one it has currently is incorrect and I’ve been looking for some years now without success.

Thank you, Richard. It was a bit of a nightmare. I had to get in touch with people from all corners of the planet from Australia to Canada and ended up finding this guy in Welwyn Gardens just outside London.
I wouldn’t have bothered with any other watch, but I think the Stingray S is rather special.

For me it’s a fake or counterfeit if the original designer Intellectual Property has been used without permission. I bet that’s the case here

Its a lovely watch the Explorer, but not in 36mm which is far too small for my wrist, I need the bigger version.

The two watches have different names, manufacturing standards and no doubt different movements, visually copying something and putting your own name on it is just imitation which for many is flattery.

Sure it will raise an eyebrow or two but if you’re in the market to buy a Blancpain then you’re not going to buy an Octopus copy and vice versa.

The Octopus is quite clearly a copy of the Blancpain, its not a fake just a copy.

Richard, what’s the model, reference number or calibre of your Camy as are several variations of the Sevenseas?

It’s this one;

The original crystal is quite tall, but that also means they take quite a beating as they’re so exposed.

This image from Richard Askham’s site shows what it should look like;

Same problem with the Stingray, the internal height. Does the Camy crystal have a step up on the outside because that was the major issue with Roamer and it did not. Also an extremely tight fit.

I don’t know. I do have a Mirexal version of a similar MRP cased watch that also uses the same crystal. The Mirexal is still near mint so if I get a chance I’ll take a picture.

Posted previously but my 34mm on my 18cm wrist.

I prefer smaller watches for daily wear

Try, if you haven’t already, Welwyn Watch Parts (website) and speak to Mike. He’s a very knowledgeable guy and could probably source it for you. Worth a try.

Nice Omega, very similar to the watches our company used to give out for reaching 25 years of service, then they changed it to 34mm Longines, whilst I used to wear it with pride nowadays it sits unloved in the watch box.

As it is a quartz watch maybe I should get a battery put in it and give it a few days on the wrist just to see how it looks and establish if I can get used to the small size. I cannot sell it as it is engraved with my details on the case.
