Internet radio not working

All are 1st Gen streaming devices so all will have lost the vTuner IR service at the moment. However, all will be able to use the in-house Naim IR service with the upcoming firmware update.

As for your Qute, it should be possible - see @robert_h post above;

Thanks for the prompt reply Richard.
Kindly explain or direct me to the relevant link, explaining what is the Naim IR service and how to connect to it, when it is operational for my devices.
I believe my Muso is up to date, but all other devices require a firmware updates, which I didn’t bother doing thinking it was not important, since all was working fine.

On the Qute 2, how do I update it, if there is a link again, I use Mac computers. The connection at the back says USB update, but it is one of those older sockets (thicker)

There are links throughout this thread but the main one is pinned at the top of the Streaming Audio section. Have a look around - you will find what you want.

Naim Internet Radio service.

Here’s info about the new Naim IR service;

There’s also a pinned thread at the top of the Streaming Audio Room here where Naim’s head of software Steve Harris posts updates and also you can leave feedback and requests for particular stations.

As for the updates, best wait until the new firmware is released at the end of next week.

About the Qute 2, I read Chris’s comment, and it seems to suggest that I would lose wifi connectivity, and will not be able to enable it again, is this correct?
Also there is no STOP button on the Qute, so not sure how I could update it.

I might post a new thread, but it’s all been done and covered before. The older 4.8 instructions explain the procedure for both Mac and pc users.

If your screen is dead;
Look for someone in France selling replacement screens on eBay (though it does depend on the 24/192 board which iirc is standard in the uq2)
Or buy a wireless access point and wire it off that, as I think navigating the setup menu might prove challenging.

Kindly explain what do you mean by “wireless access point” and where to connect it on the Qute2?

With respect to replacement screens I found a few sellers on eBay, but to replace it myself is rather challenging, I watched one YouTube video, it is not a simple job it seems.
I rather send it to Naim, or just operate it through the application.

Richard: is it possible for me to send the Qute to Naim directly, not through an agent?

I’m not sure Naim replace screens in unitiqutes anymore. They definitely dropped screen replacements for certain models. I think they only do it if it has the latest 24/192 board, otherwise you buy it from eBay.
Found it, they literally said “buy it from eBay”

In any case, you have to go through a dealer you can’t go direct to Naim for servicing or repairs.

A wireless access point is a device that picks up your WiFi and gives it as a wired connection to another device via Ethernet.

I don’t think so as their system is not set up for it.

How would I know which board is on my unitiqute? Mine is the unit Qute 2, and I think I bought it either in 2013 or 2014

IIRC the UQ2 was 24/192 from the very start of production.

What is the meaning of IIRC please? Does it mean, it is possible to have it fixed?

IIRC = If I Recall Correctly.

Ah thanks :slight_smile:

The update is simple. Just follow the instructions word by word that will be with the update file. I have updated my nds a few times and never had a problem.

I contacted naim a while ago about updating without the nds screen working and they said all the instructions and prompts are displayed on the computer screen, not the nds screen, so it shouldn’t be a problem not having a display on your device.

Hope this helps

Please direct me to the update page, if you can.
Secondly, I use a Mac, previously you could not update Naim via a Mac, had to be a windows OS. Is it now possible to update the firmware via a Mac?
And finally, how to set up the wifi and other settings if the screen is not working?

I have always updated using a macbook. The update isn’t available until the 14th Feb, when it will be on naim website. Scroll to bottom of front page on website and go to support, then follow your nose to software updates.

The other settings you will need the screen on your device working to set them.

This explanation regarding VTuner does not account for why it works on a Wiim device I purchased yesterday as temporary workaround. I am currently listening to internet radio on the little device.

Have Naim stopped the DD?:rofl:

While vTuner service is out for a number of brands as well as Naim, there do appear to be some where there is still service. One can only speculate as to the why’s and wherefores - most likely they are on a server that’s still operational?
